Christmas Classroom Activities
Ok, we know it’s only November but Christmas is going to be here before we know it. Over excited students (maybe a few of the adults too) and a curriculum to try and stick to, we know it’s hard. If you’re planning on celebrating Christmas in your classroom, we’re here to help. Our Key Stage Two lessons and activities will help you stick to the curriculum objectives with a fun, Christmas twist.
Our activity packed advent calendar runs from 1st – 25th December, each day has a different Christmas themed activity for students to engage in. Including letter writing, snowflake symmetry, addition and subtraction ‘Christmas trees’ and even planning and budgeting a Christmas party. Weekend days have interesting true or false Christmas questions for you to fit in at the start or end of the week, we don’t want you to miss those days out but know time is precious! Once you’ve selected the day of advent on the PPT, it’s up to you how to use the fun activities provided. They could be your morning work for the day; an activity for those chunks of time that prove tricky to fill between singing rehearsal and watching the early years’ nativity; or even used as rewards for when work is completed. However you choose to use the activities, your students are sure to enjoy them. Some activities are even suitable for lessons (code breaker, letter writing) so be sure to have a quick look at the activities before you start the advent calendar.
Christmas Code Breaker Lessons
Available for both Lower and Upper Key Stage Two, these code breaker lessons provide the opportunity for students to practise addition and subtraction in order to crack the code and reveal the Christmas themed word. Each lesson has three levels of differentiation with answers provided, a teaching PPT and challenges for anyone who needs a little bit more.
For those of you who go all out on Christmas, our Christmas display lettering is fantastic for those gorgeous displays. Try using the colouring sheets, snowflake symmetry or Chirstmas decorations from our advent calendar to add to your display.
Still not feeling festive?
If you’re looking for end of term activities but want to avoid the Christmas theme, try our Lower KS2 and Upper KS2 code breakers. Our Maths and Grammar Escape rooms, aimed at Upper KS2, are both also great activities for the end of the term.
Merry Christmas!
