Curriculum alignment
This resource supports the KS2 National Curriculum requirement for pupils to be taught to use conjunctions to express time, place and cause, and extends into Upper KS2 work on a wider range of subordinating and coordinating conjunctions:
“expressing time, place and cause using conjunctions [for example, when, before, after, while, so, because]”
How to use
- Use the PowerPoint spinner in whole-class or guided sessions — click to spin and challenge pupils to form sentences using the conjunction shown
- Use the printable version for paired or small group activities, encouraging discussion about how each conjunction changes the meaning of a sentence
- The two cause and effect sets allow you to differentiate within the same activity — use the basic set for consolidation and the advanced set to stretch and challenge
